ヒストリー・オブ・フイッシュマンズ (romanized: Hisutorii obu Fisshumanzu; English: History of Fishmans) is a four-disc live rarities compilation album to be released by Japanese dub/rock group Fishmans on February 19, 2025. The compilation album will mostly contain unreleased live performances and demos, including the band's first concert up until at least 1998. Compiled by drummer Kin-Ichi Motegi and mixer ZAK, the album shares a title with a 2022 two-concert event of the same name, History of Fishmans. The artwork was created by Keiji Ito.
The album was announced during フイッシュマンズ TV, a Fishmans livestream held on their YouTube channel on July 16, 2024 @Kichimu Event Space & Cafe, where Motegi briefly discussed the compilation in no specific detail. While he spoke to interviewer Satoshi Mochizuki, Motegi revealed that the compilation album had been in the works since 2021, as a spiritual soundtrack album for the band's documentary film The Fishmans Movie released in the same year. Like the Fishmans Movie, the album is intended to provide the listener with an audio tour of Fishmans' career from beginning to end. The album will feature a collection of completely unreleased songs from the band's early days, this including their entire first concert from 1987, as well as a recording of それはただの気分さ as it was performed on June 7, 1998 @Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall which played quietly while Motegi spoke on the livestream. Much of the album's content was unearthed by the Fishmans Movie archival team, Motegi explained, and if it weren't for them the band wouldn't have had access to the tapes which made this album possible. Motegi concluded in describing how he's spent much of his free time organizing the album, this being amidst his busy tour schedule alongside Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra.
The release date for this album was announced via Fishmans' Twitter account "FISHMANS_JAPAN" on November 20, 2024, during which they also teased the contents of every individual disc. Later, the album cover for this album was announced on Twitter on December 18, 2024 alongside a Natalie.mu article announcing Go Go Round This World! (Echoes of Infinity Mix). On January 12, 2025 the tracklist was added to the band's website.
