Black Market (aka: ブラックマーケット) was a Japanese funk, rock and reggae band from Tokyo, formed likely in 1987. Their name is mostly referred to as "ブラックマーケット" and is stylized to "BLACKMARKET". Black Market often played with Fishmans during their early days, before they could do one-man shows.

There is not much known about the band but their guest members include Ebby, Jagatara, Chari, Nyo² R and Madame J from Havana Exotica, Brother Marvin, Hakase-Sun and Senor Suzuki from Mustang A.K.A. and Shinji Sato from Fishmans. Black Market was a mostly live band with a single studio album, "モナリザのドープ". The band seems to have disbanded with no known events or releases past 1989, last being known to perform on December 31, 1989 @La.mama, alongside Fishmans. Hakase-Sun left Mustang A.K.A after December 27, 1989 @Nippon Broadcasting System, and joined Fishmans a few months later, likely from encounters with Shinji Sato that day with Fishmans and Black Market.

Sato calling Akira K out during a concert at La.mama on April 28, 1990.
Every known photo of the band was provided by Akira K on his twitter (@DaMemphis). Akira K and Shinji Sato were close friends in the early years, with Sato even calling out to him on Fishmans' first TV appearance on Yoru no Hit Studio R&N, saying "Akira-san, how are you doing?". Black Market was also briefly mentioned a few times in the Fishmans Chronicle timeline:
