Media Remoras (Japanese: メディアレモラス) was an eclectic record label founded in 1992 in Japan, dissolving five years later in 1997. They were a subsidiary of Fujisankei Communications International, Japan's largest media conglomerate. Their assets were later absorbed into their parent company Fujisankei when they dissolved.
Prior to being known as Media Remoras, the label's assets were own by British media conglomerate Virgin Records under Virgin Japan, which was founded in 1987. Virgin Japan was ceded to Fujisankei after record label EMI bought Virgin Records in 1992, selling their Japanese regional branch of Virgin Records. Media Remoras was formed after Virgin Japan's assets were sold to Fujisankei, allowing them to remain temporarily as their own entity. After the label dissolved in 1996, their assets were absorbed by Fujisankei and later integrated into their larger record label, Pony Canyon.
Media Remoras' first release was King Master George by Fishmans in October 1992. The label printed every Fishmans release from when this album was published until their first live album, Oh! Mountain in March 1995. Afterwards, Fishmans transferred labels to Polydor, a subsidiary of Universal Music Japan. Their final was a split remix maxi-single between Hayano and The Black Dog titled SayonaLaLa, released in April 1996.
