Michio "Darts" Sekiguchi (born 関口道生; March 3, 1963) is a Japanese guitarist most notable for his work in dub/rock group Fishmans. Despite mostly appearing only for live performances, Darts was an integral part of their musical lineup in the late 90s as lead guitarist.

Darts got his start in rock group Tomatos, starting in 1987, before also joining band Super Bad in 1988. After the bands stopped producing new music (Tomatos in 1993 and Super Bad in 1991), Darts mostly floated from project to project before focusing on supporting Fishmans' live endeavors. His first appearance with the band in-studio was on the single Season, where he plays guitar and offers backing vocals, then afterwards making his true debut appearance on their sixth LP Long Season. Despite Shinji Sato's death in 1999, Darts never stopped performing with the group, even contributing to releases such as 2016's I Dub Fish, though he is absent from Fishmans+. To this day, Darts mostly contributes to various live performances including Fishmans, as well as remaining active on Twitter.

Trivia[]

  • Darts is well known for wearing a red bowler-type hat during most of his live performances (seen to the right). He's also known to stick his respective backstage pass in the front of his hat during live performances (seen below).
  • On an earlier version of Fishmans' official website dated around 1997, Darts' birthday was falsely assumed to be March 3, 1941. In reality, he was born in 1963.
