Minoru Yokoo (also known as Minoru or 横尾 実) is a Japanese music-centric freelancer, mostly taking behind-the-scenes jobs for live venues as well as occasional recording engineering jobs. Yokoo has worked on many different projects, including The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and many others, however recently tends to work with grunge groups such as Dinosaur Jr., My Bloody Valentine, Johnny Marr, et cetera. Yokoo is mostly known for his work behind-the-scenes at band performances and festivals. Before this work, Yokoo found himself working with Japanese group Fishmans first in 1994, just before the release of Orange. He hired ZAK to do some recording, and as they got along, Yokoo helped Fishmans record their fourth album at Metropolis Studios (where Yokoo worked) in the United Kingdom. Following this, Yokoo has worked as an assistant producer alongside Fishmans' primary producer, ZAK. He also helped ZAK in purchasing recording equipment when the group moved to Waikiki Beach, which was primarily vintage recording gear (specifically pre-internet). He has also worked as an occasional vocalist for the group, most notably on Season b-side I Dub Fish, where Yokoo contributes English vocals. Yokoo grew up in London from 1976 to 1982, so is fully bilingual. Yokoo worked as an A&R manager on Orange, though he's uncredited. To this day, Yokoo still keeps a close relationship with ZAK and continues to work as a freelancer, again mostly related to music recording. Aside from this, Yokoo has also assisted in setting up and running a club named Super Deluxe.
