"Studio Live" is a term Fishmans has used to describe their first two live albums, Oh! Mountain and 8月の現状, in terms of their musical content. It is meant to convey that although a great majority of musical content on both albums was performed live, the sounds present on the albums are not entirely unaltered, being produced and further elaborated in studio after their performance. This might also mean some (not all) songs on both albums are not live performances, but instead were one-take performances in a studio, such as バックビートにのっかって as it appears on 8月の現状.
Trivia[]
- By this elaboration on the term, this might also define 98.12.28 男達の別れ as a "studio live" album, being as the material on the CD release of the album is much more complex in sound than its DVD equivalent, which is assumed to be the "virgin" or original audio recording of the concert. It is commonly agreed, however, that 98.12.28 does not qualify for the studio live descriptor, at least not to the same extent as Fishmans' first two live albums.
- The term is believed to have been coined by producer ZAK, but the origin is unconfirmed.
